Portland, Oregon – A source of reclaimed wood for StoryWood fingerboards is reclaimed tropical hardwood that arrived in Portland, Oregon as transpacific shipping crates carrying steel railroad track. This lumber is hard and durable, chosen originally for its ability to withstand punishing conditions of heavy cargoes and rough seas.

In the past, this lumber was destined for the landfill, its rough appearance masking the gorgeous hardwood beneath. Several of these species have the hardness, grain, darker appearance and finishing properties that are perfect for smooth and durable necks and fingerboards.
